Generators, Manifesting Generators, Projectors, Manifestors and Reflectors have been the focus of my blog writing the past few weeks.  It is important to know your type as each one plays a critical role in our world.  Generators and Manifesting Generators make up 70% of our population and both have powerful internal motors that allow for continuous energy and an ability to turn out a lot of work.  Projectors at 21% of the population are here to share their vision as well as guide, lead and manage others.  Manifestors at 8% of the population, stir things up by creating and initiating action that allows them to create and manifest new things.  Reflectors at less than 1% are the mirrors for mankind, constantly taking in all that is going on in their environment and then showing the rest of us how and what we are doing.  Human Design has given us these amazing types to show each of us how to live our lives.  How amazing would it be if everyone knew their type, and lived their type and strategy?  Our world would have so much joy and happiness and a lot less struggle and chaos.

 WHICH TYPE ARE YOU?

 Generators: Wait to Respond

Generators are over 35% of the populations.  To be a Generator, one has to have a defined or closed Sacral center which is a motor center.  The Sacral motor, is the most powerful in Human Design. Generators wake up with full energy and it runs until they fall asleep at night.  Generators are here to work, whether it is creative or manual and their energy is sustainable. The work that a Generator does isn’t important as long as it is inspiring.   Once they fall asleep the energy is recharged and ready for them the next day.  It is really important for the generator to do something physical each day so that it is burning its energy out.  If you are not doing that you may find your nighttime to be restless and notice interruptions in your sleep.

Generators have all sorts of things happening in their world.  As the Generators strategy is to wait to respond, it is not always easy to know how to do this.  Generators need to wait for the right thing to respond to.  It is so important to check in with your Sacral, ask the questions and wait for the “uh-huh” (indicating “yes”) and “uhn-uhn” (indicating “no”).  For instance, if you are a generator and while driving you see a billboard about training to be nurse. Later in the day, you are in your favorite coffee shop and the two women next to you are talking about their course work in nursing.  Hmm, now the nursing billboard is more alive in your reality. Might be time to begin asking yourself how you feel about nursing?  Is it time to respond?  Check in with your gut.  Listen for those sounds. If you find that you are listening to your mind or the voice in your head, you are not following your strategy.  To be as successful as possible in this life, learn how to work with your strategy.  It is your guide for everything.  A Generator’s not-self theme is frustration.  If you are feeling frustrated, know you are not listening to your strategy.

Manifesting Generators

Manifesting Generators are approximately 34% of population and like Generator have a defined Sacral and all that powerful energy to use every day.  Manifesting Generators are here to work and produceand like the Generator, it can by manual or creative types of work.  Generators and Manifesting Generators stand out from all the other types because of this energy that is consistent and runs all day long.  A main difference between the Generator and Manifesting Generator is that the Manifesting Generator has a defined and motorized throat.  This defined throat motor adds in a degree of initiative and creative energy that increases the power of the Manifesting Generators as well as speed.  Many Manifesting Generators are quick to act, respond and may miss a step or two here or there, and they may be prone to getting bored easily.  The Manifesting energy may come off as pushy to others at times and can cause the Manifesting Generator issues if they push themselves to do things before checking in with their sacral.  They need to remember, they are Manifesting Generators, not Manifestors.

Similar to the Generator, they also need to wait to respond, even as they are being bombarded with so many possibilities in their world.  Manifesting Generators can push the gray area of initiation a little bit, but they want to be continually checking in with their sacral energy to make sure they are getting the right response.  As Manifesting Generators are always initiating, creating and ready to take action, much of what they want to respond to will just show up in their lives.  Whereas the Generator needed the nursing job to appear then waited for it to show up in their reality, a Manifesting Generator would have just needed to see the billboard or have a conversation with a friend where nursing was mentioned.  They then need to just check in with their sacral, and if they get the yes, then start the research of the profession or training and then check in again.  With Manifesting Generators, they also change their minds a lot if they are checking their strategy, often.  Changing their mind is a good thing and like the Generator, a great way to know if you are not living your design is paying attention to when you are frustrated.

Projectors – Wait for the Invitation

At 21% of the population, many projectors have been parented or are even living as Generators and struggling.  Projectors are here to manage, guide, direct and lead, not work.  They are the Chief, not the Indian.  They are born to project their ideas, thoughts, solutions and inspirations to others.  Projectors do not have Sacral energy, so they do not have sustainable energy to keep going and going over a long period of time.  They need to rest and take breaks.  Projectors do best with flexible schedules that allow for rest or even better an afternoon nap.  They also will do much better if they go to bed before they are tired in order to discharge the Sacral energy that they have picked up during the day.

Projectors need to be invited in order for their energy to get them through the day.  The invitation can come in many forms: they can be formal, informal or implied, but the projector has to be certain the invitation was presented for there to be a correct exchange.  The invitation is needed for every phase of the Projector’s life from relationships, employment, in a group or even to participate in events.  People in your life can be of help in aiding or bringing invitations to you.  It does not have to just be done by you.  When you are not living your design, you may find yourself feeling bitter often.

Manifestors – Inform before you act

Manifestors are 8% of the population and they are here to create, act, initiate and manifest. Their energy is quick and flows to the throat center from one or more motor centers within the design.  The throat center is where the creative and initiative expression comes from.  The energy from the throat center is how the Manifestors creates opportunity for themselves and others.  Manifestors are important to help the rest of us get things started and keep them going.  Once the Manifestor initiates, the other types will come in and aid the Manifestor to bring things to creation, which allows the Manifestor to manifest.

Manifestors have very fast energy which guides them in their creative process.  They really do not like slowing down to explain things to others and normally find this process to be an annoyance.  However, the Manifestor needs the influx of energy from the other types once the initiation has begun for the desired effect to take place or for the manifestation to happen.  It is up to the Manifestor to inform others before acting, so that the energy can keep flowing around them and their actions.  When Manifestors do not inform, they become isolated from others and their energies.  When not living their design, Manifestors become angry.

Reflectors – Wait 28 days

At less than 1% of the population, Reflectors are rare.  They are also the mirror for all the other energies and actions amongst mankind.  A Reflector has nine open centers.  When you look at their chart, all the centers are white.  Reflectors are highly empathetic and sensitive to what is going on in and around them.  They also do not have sustainable energy.  They are influenced by the energetic gates created by the cycles of the mon.

As their strategy is to wait 28.5 days, the entire lunar cycle before making any big decisions, this can cause difficulty for Reflectors.  The more they understand their charts, the better they will be at understanding and living their design.  Reflectors may struggle finding consistency in their environment as their nature is constantly changing.  They take in the energy from those around them and need to keep their circle of friends to those they can really trust as they can be unduly influenced by others.  When not living their design, Reflectors may feel disappointment.

Mother Teresa, Stephen King, Miley Cyrus and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., are all manifesting generators.  While each of them on the surface seem quite different from each other, and they are as each is as unique as we all are, they also share similarities in their charts that guided them to do what they do.      

Mother Teresa of Calcutta

As a manifesting generator, Mother Teresa had both sustainable energy and the ability to make things happen and when you consider all she was able to accomplish in her life she used both traits wonderfully.

The first thing I noticed in her chart is her defined centers (colored in chart). Her crown, ajna and throat all being defined.  The crown (at the top) usually means you are one with a sizable need to understand, question, make sense of, or know what your inspiration is all about.  Her defined Ajna lets us know that from an early age she knew with certainty who she was and what direction her life would take. In studying her, this is accurate as she knew by age 12 that she wanted to live her life in religious service and at age 18 left home to become a missionary. Her defined throat center is all about ‘doing’ and ‘bringing things into form.  In all, each of her defined centers show her to be very independent energectically.  She definitely did not need others to help her express herself. Having the defined sacral, she just needed to wait on her internal guidace to take action in her life.

Another point of interest is the Channel 43-23- the Channel of structuring, also known as the ‘freak-to-genuis’ channel.  Having this channel means one has a natural talent for seeing the world and what is possible, normally from a point of view that others may think of as unconventional and thus impacting the thoughts of others.  In Mother Teresa’s life, this led to thinking about the poor much differently than others had to this point and coming up with solutions that were new and in many cases, considered out-of-the box. 

An example of this would be her choice to serve the poorest citizens of India, with no money and resorting to begging for food and supplies during her first year of starting her school.  It worked though, as soon, many of the officials in India, including the prime minister, became aware of her and her efforts and soon she began receiving support.

Another fascinating aspect of her chart is her Incarnation Cross, the Right Angle Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix (59/55 & 34/20), four powerful gates coming together, giving a view into her purpose.

Gate 34- Power- raw sacral power and the gate with the most energy potential of the four as it can create three motorized channels.

Gate 20 – Now- Contemplation, this is her voice of now, always speaking for the poor.

Gate 55- Spirit- Abundance (for her God)- she has this gate both in her conscious and unconscious that repeat the message that abundance in life comes from spirit, not from material things and she embodied that her whole life and teaching all of us about unconditional love, every day.

Gate 59- Sexuality- Dispersion- the drive to continue the species

Stephen King 

Besides being a manifesting generator, he like all four celebrities discussed in this blog is a very fast processor because he has the 34/20 channel which gives him the ability to manifest after responding.  It is obvious he knew what he wanted to do from an early age which is shown in his defined Ajna. The defined Ajna is all about knowing with certainty who you are and your direction in life.

In looking at his history, he produced numerous books early on.  He also set a goal each day to write 4-6 hours a day.  This was helped by having the gate 5 -gate of waiting activated, which gave him the ability to set routines as this was his natural rhythm and helped him to maintain momentum, to produce the vast number of books he did, by himself in a relatively short time.

One of the channels he has activated is the 43/23 affectionately known as “freak to genius” channel where he sees the world differently, doesn’t necessarily fit in, and has his own world view which he will try and bring that unique perspective to the world, which he has done in his writing.

He also has the 48/16 channel which is a channel of talent that allowed him to bring detail, depth and enthusiasm to his work.  The detail and depth allowed him to bring all the expressions of his writing to life for his reader and keep them entertained.

Looking at his 6/2 profile, the 6 line of the role model has three distinct expressions in life.  In the first 28 years, the 6th line is introspective and experimental and the 2nd line hermit can be quiet or reserved self-experimenting individual, which made writing perfect for him.  It is not unusual to have bursts of energetic expression or explosions from their somewhat reserved personalities.  The 2nd line hermit will continually be pulling back to be alone, but friends will be consistently calling you out.  As one approaches 28, the 6th line gives up the experimentation and heads to the roof.

From age 28 to 50 the 6th line is on the roof.  This is now a time of trying to learn about life through how others do things, pulling in the wisdom, analyzing it and then internalizing.  The roof may feel muted and less engaging.  The 2nd line will continue to want to be left alone and will still be called out by friends.  Often a rhythm is developed of withdrawing and then going out.

At around age 50, he would have come down off the roof and begin to be the role model.  By this time, he has gained a wealth of wisdom that needs to be shared.  But even in being social, many 6/2’s will still be reserved.  They will wait to be called upon.  This can make it difficult for those around them as the 6/2 may seem aloof or not engaged, but in reality, they are just waiting to be called out so they can supply their wisdom.  Another interesting aspect is that at age 52 he was in a car accident that may have given him a wake-up call to re-examine what else in his life was important and to slow down so his body could heal and be in balance from all the pushing he had done earlier in his life.

Miley Cyrus

Another very talented and successful entertainer.  Her chart has many highlights to help us understand the transformation we have all witnessed from her early days of being a Disney star in Hannah Montana, to signing recording contracts, co-writing songs, numerous appearances on tv, in concerts and in movies and oh a few top selling albums, all before she was an adult. 

Being a manifesting generator, she has sustainable energy that has supported the effort and energy needed for all of her endeavors.

Her profile is the 2/5, where we find harmony of the two lines of projection. The 2nd line, the hermit wants to be left alone to do its own thing and she most likely has a very private side.  The transpersonal and seductive 5th line, the Heretic is aware and wary of the projection from others, yet will attract and need to interact with others.  The 5th line also represents the hopes and dreams of humanity.  It is very transpersonal and its impact can be profound.  This profile can lead any rebellion against any standard, at any cost, and provide a practical solution.  It may be a stretch and difficult for many to see, but her switch from Hannah Montana to the teenager/ young adult who through her music pushed every boundary known may have just been a creative way to share with other young people that through exploration she was able to figure out what was good or not so good for her, and who she was without all the projections of others around her.

In looking at her centers, she has an open Ajna center (2nd one) which can make it difficult for her to make decisions as she is very open minded and fluid. She also has an open will center which is all about proving yourself, your talents, doing things your way without interference and she has done that.  She also has a defined solar plexus and needs to not just use her sacral for a response, but also the waves of the solar plexus.  She needs to give herself a day or so to sleep on it to know what is truly correct for herself.  

Like Mother Teresa and Stephen King, she also has the 34/20 channel from sacral to throat. This channel is the defining channel for manifesting generators, a powerful, speedy channel which gives her added power as she has it in the conscious sun and earth positions which means she can use her power and charisma as leverage.  We have seen her do this as she broke out of the Disney image she was in from age 11-17 and began exploring many genres and flexed all her power as she began to figure out who she is.

Gate 59 -gate of intimacy/sexuality, which is unconscious in her chart, so it is not surprising that she opened all sorts of doors in many different arenas “giving birth” to creative projects. Up to that point in her life, her inner questioning on sexuality may have been suppressed and this was her way of exploring who she is in the world. While some may have chosen to approach this shyly, she went bold.  As she has gone through that stage and into where we are seeing her today, she has toned down and seems to be very comfortable with herself and her sense of sexuality.

She also has Gate 54- gate of ambition, which in its description is about barreling through, going toward some unseen goal and just wanting to do it all and be top dog.  While she had tremendous guidance as a youngster from family, friends and people around her, as she has grown into adulthood, she is successful as herself and with this gate, nothing will stand in her way, she can defy the odds.

Dr. Martin Luther King, JR

 Dr. King like the other manifesting generators highlighted here has the Channel 34/20.  His charisma was felt immediately in hearing him speak.  Being a manifesting generator, he utilized his inherent power and charisma to accomplish so much in his 39 years.  He was an amazing multi-tasker, traveled often, marched in many events for civil rights and gave numerous speeches day after day.

Another channel of prominence in his chart is the 28-38 -Channel of Struggle.  From living as a child in the south, he chose early to become a voice to do things differently.  He was all about peaceful revolutions.  His story tells of the struggles he lived with growing up and all the prejudices he faced and how he chose which battles to address.  With his defined mind, he definitely seemed to make those decision with care and chose carefully and made a lasting difference.

He also had an open will center so doing things his way, being able to prove himself and share his talents came quite easily to him.  He also had the defined solar plexus, so besides waiting for the response, from the sacral, it would have been beneficial to sit for a day or two before deciding.

As he died so young, many other attributes and traits in his chart never came to fruition.  He had many gates that while activated and utilized were just beginning to be fully developed and would have continued to fuel him to make a difference in the world.  What we do know is in his life, he did and his words and actions are a reminder for many to continue to move on for peaceful change.
